Cables & Connectors

AV cables and connectors in Uganda

Whatever the cable, whatever the application, whatever the budget, we’ve got you covered: audio, video, data and power, from world leading brands to reliable cost effective ranges, all original and supported locally.

You can buy the best display, speakers and microphones, and still get a picture that drops out, a hum in the sound or a microphone that crackles, because of one poor cable or connector. Cabling is the part of a system nobody sees, so it is the easiest place to cut corners, and the most expensive place to fix later when it is inside walls and ceilings.

Copies of well known cable and connector brands are common. They look the same, but they use thinner copper, poor shielding and weak contacts. Every product we supply is original, through official channels, with local warranty.

Speaker cables

Speaker cable carries the power from the amplifier to the speakers. The right copper size for the distance and the load keeps the sound full and stops power being wasted as heat. We supply speaker cable from Sommer Cable for professional and residential systems, fire rated cable where the building needs it, and cost effective bulk cable from PROEL for everyday installations.

XLR, microphone and instrument cables

Balanced microphone and line cables, instrument cables, multicores and digital audio cable. Sommer Cable are world leaders in professional audio and video cable, and PROEL offers ready made cables from high performance to cost effective ranges, so there is a cable for every budget.

HDMI, USB and video cables

Video cables have to carry high bandwidth signals for 4K and 8K without dropouts or flicker. The resolution, the length and the installation decide which cable is right, from a short passive HDMI lead to an active optical cable for long runs.

• Kordz: HDMI and USB-C cables built for professional installation. Kordz tests each cable individually and provides a test report per cable, so you know it performs before it goes into the wall. Kordz cables have also passed independent testing at DPL Labs, an HDMI test laboratory
• Certified HDMI: look for the official HDMI certification labels: Standard, High Speed, Premium High Speed and Ultra High Speed. We match the certified cable to the resolution and bandwidth you need
• Kramer: a well known range of AV cables from Kramer, including HDMI, USB and active optical cables for long runs
• ATEN: HDMI, USB, KVM and AV cables from ATEN

Network cables: Kordz SlimCat

AV over IP, Dante and control all run on the network, so the network cable matters as much as the video cable. Kordz SlimCat is Cat6 and Cat6A cable with a 4 mm diameter, about half the size of standard cable, with 28 AWG oxygen free copper conductors, snap proof connector latches and a PVC free jacket, supplied on 305 m spools and as ready made patch leads. Slim cable makes neat, high density racks and fits where standard cable does not.

Adapters and accessories

Adapters, docks and everyday connectivity from Equip and Conceptronic.

Neutrik invented many of the connectors the professional AV industry uses every day. Its connectors are built to lock securely, survive thousands of connections and keep a perfect contact, from the stage and the studio to the boardroom, the stadium and the broadcast truck. When the connector fails, the whole system fails, so we insist on original Neutrik.

• XLR and combo: the standard for microphones and balanced audio, and combo sockets that take both XLR and jack
• Jack: for instruments, line level and headphones
• speakON: locking speaker connectors for amplifiers and loudspeakers
• powerCON: locking power connectors for professional equipment
• etherCON: rugged locking network connectors for Dante, AV over IP and control
• opticalCON: rugged fibre optic connections for long distance video and data
• Panels and accessories: wall plates, panel connectors, adapters and cable accessories

Original Neutrik, supported locally

Neutrik copies are everywhere, and they are the reason connections crackle, come loose and fail. As the local distributor we supply original Neutrik through the official channel, with local stock, warranty and technical support for our resellers and integrators.

The right cable and connector for the job

We match the cable and the connector to the signal, the distance and the installation: fire rated cable where the building needs it, the right bandwidth for video, proper shielding for audio, correct termination and labelling, and testing before handover. For long distances we design with extenders or AV over IP instead of long cables.
