SRT

SRT live streaming in Uganda

SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) is an open source protocol for sending live video over the public internet. It recovers lost packets, keeps latency low and encrypts the stream, so a feed stays stable even on an unreliable connection.

It is used to send live video from a venue to a studio, a broadcaster or a streaming platform without the cost of a satellite link or dedicated fibre.

Typical applications

  • Live streaming of events, services and conferences
  • Remote contribution to TV and radio stations
  • Linking studios and venues across sites
